On October 14, 2009, St. Cabrini Nursing Home was brimming with anticipation as a group of excited residents, staff, volunteers and guests anxiously awaited the arrival of His Excellency, Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan to celebrate the completion of the Home’s three-year long Major Modernization Project.
Upon his arrival, the Archbishop’s warmth and love circulated throughout the Home, as he personally greeted each person with open arms, kind words and a big smile.
The Archbishop then proceeded down the hall, to vest and prepare to offer a “Mass of Thanksgiving,” in the Home’s new chapel. Deacon Donald Quigley, Father Timothy Scannell from Sacred Heart Parish in Dobbs Ferry, Rev. Edwin Robinson, OFM, St. Cabrini Nursing Home’s Chaplain and Father James Cruz, Secretary to Archbishop Dolan, concelebrated Mass with His Excellency. The Mass was incredibly moving. One of the highlights of the celebration was the offertory procession, which included residents, clients and staff bringing forth a variety of
gifts to the Archbishop, each of which holds a special
meaning to Cabrini of Westchester. Afterwards, Archbishop Dolan visited with the residents and the staff on each of the seven units of the newly expanded Home.
A reception followed in the lobby, where the Archbishop continued his personal greetings and blessings. Residents, staff and guests alike were visibly moved by the beautiful Mass and his captivating presence.
