Dancing into Wellness!
“I’ve still got it!” said resident, Garret Cronin, when asked if he enjoyed attending the dance therapy session that was held at Cabrini of Westchester on October 2nd. “I love to move and had so much fun ‘dancing’ to the great music that was played during the class!”
Thanks to the talents of Shlomit Oren, a multicultural actress, dancer, and expressive arts counselor and facilitator, a large group of residents gathered in the Rose Room to move and sing to familiar tunes such as Doris Day’s “Que Sera, Sera,” and Ray Charles’ “Hit the Road Jack!”
Ms. Oren is also the owner of a Gleeful Wellness LLC, a company that specializes in uplifting communities through creative arts, entertainment, wellness, and art making.
“While I work with all age groups, I have a special love of working with seniors. My programs are powerful in encouraging seniors to express themselves creatively, which enhances their overall sense of well-being. I feel joy and love in dancing with the seniors as they reciprocate that joy and love back to me. This makes it is a win-win experience for all!”
The class was such a big hit for those who participated, that Ms. Oren will be back next month for another session. We can’t wait to shimmy and sing along to the up-beat and familiar melodies she has in store! ~ submitted by Susan Herceg, Director of Development and PR, Cabrini of Westcheste
