Cabrini High School (CHS) was everywhere this past weekend, making an impact across New Orleans and beyond! From celebrating heritage and culture to dominating the competition floor, our Crescents showed up in true Cabrini spirit.
Los Isleños Fiesta
At the Los Isleños Fiesta in St. Bernard Parish, Sophomore Lizbeth Garcia Cruz proudly represented Cabrini in authentic traje típico from the Canary Islands. She performed at the historic Caserta House, where one of our Cabrini legacy families traces its ancestry, reciting Spanish poetry from memory and demonstrating the traditional language of the fan. Cabrini’s deep ties to the Hispanic and Isleños communities trace back to Mother Cabrini, whose mission work uplifted countless newcomers, including the Isleños. CHS Assistant Principal, Vivian Coutin, lovingly known as “Chica” to generations of the CHS community, was named an honorary citizen of St. Bernard Parish for her decades of service to the Isleños community—a well-deserved honor for someone who has given so much!
St. Joseph Altar
Cabrini’s annual St. Joseph Altar opened to students with the beloved Tupa-Tupa ceremony, a reenactment of the Holy Family seeking shelter. Created with love alongside our friends from the Elenian Club, this cherished tradition honors the deep connection between Sicilian culture in New Orleans and Mother Cabrini’s mission to support Italian immigrants. The altar was open to the public who also enjoyed a tour of our historic Esplanade building, recently named a 2025 Pilgrimage Site for the Year of the Jubilee.
Spirit Blast Battle of the Belts
The Cabrini Crescents made history at the Spirit Blast Battle of the Belts NATIONAL Championship, bringing home 1st place in Game Day—earning the title of National Champions! They also secured 2nd place in the Traditional Routine, proving that hard work truly pays off.
The Eclipse Dance Team lit up the stage at MA Gulf Coast Regionals, taking home multiple top awards, including 1st place in Pom, Hip Hop, Officers, and Game Day, along with a collection of special recognitions for their performances.
What a weekend to remember! Cabrini continues to shine, and we look forward to God’s divine mercy for an even brighter future.
