On Wednesday June 16, 2010, Cabrini of Westchester celebrated the over 2000 collective years of service of the thirty-one Religious who call St. Cabrini Nursing Home, “home.”
Members of thirteen religious orders reside at St. Cabrini Nursing Home, including: Carmelite Sisters, Congregation of Christian Brothers, Franciscan Sisters of Peace, Little Sisters of the Assumption, Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Religious Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, Sisters of Reparation, Congregation of Mary (St. Zita), Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, Sisters of the Divine Compassion, Sisters of the Order of St. Basil the Great and Ursuline Nuns.
In the presence of Cabrini of Westchester’s administration, staff and members of their Religious communities, thirty Sisters and one Brother renewed their vows at a beautiful and moving prayer service held in thanksgiving for their service to the Church. Though not in attendance, N.Y. State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins recognized the celebration with a special proclamation, naming June 16th, as “Religious Service Day.” The festivities continued with a reception in the River Terrace Café.
