Two Members of the Cabrini family were yesterday awarded Australia Day honours by Governor-General, Her Excellency Ms. Quentin Bryce AC on behalf of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
Cabrini’s former Chief Executive, Mr. Roger Greenman was made a Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for services to medical administration, to the development of social outreach programs and to church and charitable organisations.
Mr. Greenman was Chief Executive of Cabrini Health from 1987 – 2008 and Assistant to Chief Administrator from 1972 – 1987.
He is currently involved in the development of the Cabrini Social Outreach Program and supervised the acquisition and redevelopment of various health services including Cabrini Palliative Care, Cabrini Ashwood Aged Care, Cabrini Hopetoun, Cabrini Brighton, Cabrini Linen Service, Cabrini Emergency Services and Chemtronics.
He has been a Committee Member of Catholic Health Australia, the Private Hospitals Association of Victoria, and Associate Fellow of the Australian College of Health Service Executives and a Member of the American Hospitals Association.
Former Member of the Cabrini Governing Board, Rev. Dr. Peter L’Estrange SJ was awarded an Officer (AO) in the general division of the Order of Australia for service to higher education and to the community through the Catholic Church as an administrator and academic.
Fr. L’Estrange, currently living in Washington DC is Special Assistant to the President of Georgetown University. Prior to this position he was Master at Campion Hall at the University of Oxford and Rector of Newman College at the University of Melbourne. He is also a Magistral Chaplain of the Sovereign Military and Hospitaller Order of St John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta.
From 2002 – 2005 he was Vice-Chairman of the Governing Board of Cabrini Health, Inaugural Chair of Cabrini’s Mission Integration Committee, Member of the Cabrini Remuneration Committee, Member of the Future strategy Group and member of the Cabrini Apostolic Planning Committee which supports numerous charitable works in addition to the patients focus of Cabrini Health. Fr L’Estrange served on Cabrini Health Governing Board from 1995 – 2005.
