Mother Cabrini Shrine
Colorado, United States
In the early part of the 19th century, Mother Cabrini came to Denver, Colorado, to minister to the children of the immigrant miners, and the Queen of Heaven Orphanage. Later, in 1910, Cabrini purchased property in Colorado as a summer camp for the girls in the orphanage.

With her beatification in 1938, the property became a place of prayer, pilgrimage and devotion to Mother Cabrini and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In 1946, the year of Mother Cabrini’s canonization, the Mother Cabrini Shrine was established. The Shrine property features a residential retreat center; a Grotto Spring; a Heart of Stones monument; the Stairway of Prayer; and a chapel by the Grotto. The Stone House, conceived and designed by Mother Cabrini, that overlooks the vast Denver area, provides a quiet, tranquil setting for retreats and meetings.

At Mother Cabrini Shrine, the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and their lay collaborators strive to bring the love of Christ to pilgrims, visitors and friends through a hospitable and prayerful presence. The staff -- religious and lay -- seeks to bring God to people and people to God.
